Speak to Your Health! Community Survey

The Speak to Your Health! (STYH) Community Survey is a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) project that examines a wide range of issues related to individual and community health in Genesee County, Michigan. The survey has been conducted every other year since 2003. It is designed and implemented by a committee of local academic, community, and institutional partners, and the Genesee County Health Department.

Vision

An aware, empowered, and healthy community.

Mission

Community partners working together to gather, interpret, and share data about the health and well-being of Genesee County.

Survey Results

Results of the survey are available to all Genesee County residents and can be analyzed by gender, race, age, and across time, and mapped geographically to determine trends by neighborhood, zip code, or county. Results from the survey can be used for health program planning and evaluation, grant proposals, community education, and policy development.

Past results have been used for the Genesee County Health Department Strategic Plan and the Genesee Health Plan millage.

Survey topics include physical and mental health, neighborhood safety, physical activity, nutrition, health care access, cancer, diabetes, sexual health, and smoking.

Survey information, tables, and map libraries are listed in the Survey Data menu in the side bar. To access this information, you must register and login to the site. To request use of the complete data sets, please submit a data request form, or email speak.data@gchd.us.
